Explorers Nursery

Welcome to Explorers Nursery at St George's

Summer Term 2021
Carrots .....

We are very proud of the carrots we are growing at Nursery. We look after them carefully and water them whenever we think the soil feels dry.  We have watched them grow into lovely big healthy plants. Every week we look to see how much the carrots have grown.
Self Portraits .....

As part of our 'All about Me' learning we looked carefully at our faces and learnt about our facial features. Some of us used mirrors to draw our own self-portraits adding lots of details that show how unique we are.

Spring Term 2021
The Enormous Turnip .....

We enjoyed exploring the story of 'The Enormous Turnip' and had lots of fun pretending to be the different characters trying to pull up the giant vegetable. We thought of different words that describe something very big and hope that we will be able to grow an enormous turnip at Nursery!

Incy Wincy Spider .....

We loved singing 'Incy Wincy Spider' and created some amazing actions and sound effects to go with the song. We listened carefully to the sound real rain makes and made our own rain stick instruments to recreate the sound, it was fun changing how we played our rain sticks to make the rain sound light or stormy.

Autumn Term 2020
Run, run, as fast as you can.....

We enjoyed sharing the story of 'The Gingerbread Man' and joining in with the repeating text. It was lots of fun to use different voices for the characters and change the end of the story so the other animal characters could enjoy a Gingerbread treat.
To share the story together at home visit  worldbookday.com  and search 'The Gingerbread man'

Crash, bang, pop, fizz ....

As we learnt about November 5th traditions, we used our voices and percussion instruments to create fantastic firework sounds then added movements to make fireworks displays with our bodies. We used printing objects to design pictures of our displays and enjoyed exploring shiny, sparkly and glittering materials.
